Special Events:

Lecture: Japan – Between Big Cities and Natural Paradise

This free lecture will offer tips and ideas for your next big trip to Japan. The lecture will be held in German.

Lecture: Human Hair Sweater and Fake Pregnancy – Originality and Radicalness of Japanese Literature

Don’t let the title drive you off; there are lots of fascinating and provocative trends in modern Japanese literature that are worth exploring. Prof. Dr. GEBHARDT will go through just a few examples in this free German-language lecture.

Nippon Open Air: Kenzo WHITE

It’s another free open-air concert, this time by German-Japanese winger-songwriter Kenzo WHITE. 

Nippon Live: Mitsune

This folk fusion band from Berlin is in town for what is sure to be an unforgettable live show! Note that this concert is NOT free, ticket purchase is required! 

Nippon Filmmakers‘ Night

Come on over to the entrance bar at Mousonturm for our open-to-all filmmakers‘ night! Many of our guests will be present to answer questions in a more relaxed, informal setting about their works.

Gold Kingdom And Water Kingdom by Kotono WATANABE

Kicking off our Animation program, it’s the German premiere of the director’s feature film debut!

Soup and Ideology by Yonghi YANG

This will be the German premiere of a unique look at a second-generation Korean immigrant living within Japan.

A Hundred Flowers by Genki KAWAMURA

A powerful story of dealing with family drama, today’s showing will be the film’s German premiere.

Amiko by Yusuke MORII

This showing will be the film’s German premiere.

Syonara, Girls by Shun NAKAGAWA

A fresh take on a familiar tale, this movie celebrates its European premiere tonight!

Meet the Guests: 

UMUI – Guardians of Traditions by Daniel LOPEZ

Both the film’s director and its producer, Tomoya OGOSHI, will attend the German premiere of this entry into Nippon Docs. 

Egoist by Daishi MATSUNAGA

This tale of a queer romance celebrates its German premiere today in the presence of its director.

Journey by Shogo KIRIU

The director will attend this movie’s international premiere.

Baby Assassins by Hugo SAKAMOTO

This will be the German premiere of this alternative take on a world of assassins, and both the director as well as the producer, Yusuke SUZUKI, will be present. 

Nippon Shorts II: Ghosts & Strangers

Numerous artists involved in this year’s selection of shorts will be present at the festival, including director Yasuharu SOSHI, actress Kaori TSUBAKI, cameraman Tsuyoshi SONE, director Keitaro FUJIMORI, and producer Terukazu KANDA.
