Yes, Nippon Connection is finally fully live and in-person again, after two years of COVID requiring the festival be held online. Nonetheless, the pandemic is still ongoing, so while we are happy to welcome all our guests back to Mousonturm once again, please take care of yourselves, stay smart, and stay healthy!

Special Events/Workshops:
Lecture: Lyrical Walks Through Tokyo (7 p.m.)
Dr. Christian Chappelow from the Goethe University in Frankfurt will offer glimpses of Tokyo through the eyes of selected poets. ´The lecture will be in German and is free to enter.
Performance: A Black Kite – Pulsation of Souls (8:30 p.m.)
The artistic duo Usaginingen returns to Nippon with a live performance in the Mousonturm. Ticket purchase is required beforehand.
Film Premieres:
Small, Slow But Steady by Sho MIYAKE
This premiere will open up the main part of the festival and will include the festival opening ceremony.
One of Nippon Connection’s favorite animation directors returns with his latest work. Come check it out!
Ren SUDO’s directorial debut, a new voice for queer cinema in Japan, will enjoy it’s German premiere tonight.
Meet the Guests:
The German premiere of this important documentary on war, tragedy, and memory will be attended by the film’s director.
