Special Events:
This free presentation from Theater der Welt will offer video presentations of their festivals. Presentation will be in English.
This insightful discussion of how architecture in Japanese animation is used to convey the story will be held in German and is free to enter.
A culinary lecture on the many and varied uses of miso paste, tasting of various dishes will be included. Entrance is free and the lecture will mix German and Japanese (with translation, of course).
Panel: The World of Cat Literature
Cats are everywhere, even in many forms of Japanese and Chinese literature. This German-language panel will examine the appearance of our furry friends across eras and genres.
Our first open-air concert of the festival will be held this evening in front of the Naxoshalle.
It’s a standard of every Nippon Connection festival; Marcus STIGLEGGER and Kai NAUMANN will offer commentary while they and the audience view a classic Japanese trash staple.
Film Premieres:
This quiet, affecting film celebrates its German premiere in the Mousonturm this afternoon!
A love letter to the art of filmmaking, this screening will be the film’s European premiere.
Where is the line between forgiveness and second chances, and justive? The German premiere of December is sure to offer a thought-provoking experience to its audience.

A very unique spin on stories from the age of samurai, the film’s producer, Mitsuo HARADA, will attend the German premiere.
